Rome: The Great Survivor of History and Revolution


Rome has been the capital of Italy since 1870. Today the city is a bustling cosmopolitan city, affording a wealth of activities and places of historic interest for the discerning visitor.

As would be expected from a location so rich in culture, Rome is one of the most popular city destinations in Europe, affording accommodation to suit every need and budget.

There is a wide range of places to stay in Rome . For those who can afford it, there are a number of luxurious apartments and hotels, overlooking the iconic Colosseum, the sight of many historic gladiatorial combats throughout the years.

There are also a number of hotels and apartments enjoying views of the River Tiber, an important site of many of the battles fought during the many Roman revolutions which took place in the 18th and 19th Century.

As would be expected from a city with such a turbulent history, Rome enjoys of wealth of architecture, especially from the Baroque and Renaissance periods. Much of this architecture is well preserved and many sites are denoted UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel.

These many interesting monuments and buildings can now be marvelled in their present condition, a permanent reminder of the past revolutions to take place in this most fascinating of cities.
